What is Brickworld Chicago?

DSC00353.jpg

Brickworld Chicago is a convention created by Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs). It is a gathering of like-minded hobby enthusiasts that want to share what they have created, what they know, games they play, and many other things.

We ask that all attending the event support our motto:

Share - Learn - Explore - Discover

When is Brickworld Chicago?

Brickworld is held the third week in June. This year (2013), Brickworld will be held from June 12 - 16. Brickworld will be open to the public on June 15 and 16 (Saturday and Sunday).

Where is Brickworld Chicago?

Starting in 2013, Brickworld will be held at the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL.

Who should attend as a Brickworld Registered Attendee?
Adults and teens that want to spend the weekend as part of a large family of LEGO loving people.  If your hobby is building unique creations out of LEGO bricks and you want to share these creations with others, then you will want to attend as a registered attendee.

The target groups for the 'Full Registrant' attendees are Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) and Teen Fans of LEGO (TFOLs).  The cost for Full Registration is $70 per person..

The target group for the 'All Access Registrant' attendees are families, children 12 & under, adults accompanying TFOLs, and spouses/significant others accompanying AFOLs. This option allows families with kids to get many of the benefits while still keeping parts of the event more adult oriented.  The cost for All Access Registration is $50 per person.

Minors (under the age of 18) MUST have a parent/guardian register AND attend Brickworld with them.  Regardless of maturity level, for liability reasons, those under 18 MUST be accompanied by an adult.

How do I register for the Brickworld Chicago convention?

Start by creating an account on this web site.  Once you have created your account and logged in, you will see an option to register yourself and others on your "mypage".

Registration is NOT required to attend the public expo on the weekend.

Who should attend as a Public Attendee?

Families and anyone that wants to experience the world as seen through the eyes of LEGO enthusiasts from around the world.  As a public attendee, you can visit the event on Saturday (June 15) or Sunday (June 16) to see fascinating creations all built from LEGO bricks.  You will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive activities and purchase LEGO products and LEGO accessories.  Go to the Chicago Expo page (coming soon) for more details.

More Information for Registered Attendees:

Brickworld begins on Wednesday evening the week of the event with opening ceremonies. Thursday and Friday are devoted to registered attendees. During the day and evening of Thursday and Friday, AFOLs have lots of time for bonding, sharing and set up of displays. During the day, there are workshops, presentations and roundtable discussions provided by fellow AFOLs and other community partners. These sessions are designed to give registered attendees the opportunity to share with each other, learn from each other, discover new aspects of the hobby, and explore the various creations fellow AFOLs have on display. There are opportunities to:

  • Build creations on site

  • Participate in contests and games

  • Hang out with friends

  • Learn more about the hobby

  • Have fun in many ways

The convention schedule will show the specific, planned activities and will be posted as Brickworld approaches. Generally speaking, opening ceremonies are Wednesday evening, workshops are on Thursday, set up the display rooms is Thursday & Friday, and presentations are on Friday. There are plenty of other activities too - all day long and most of the night for any registered attendee interested in joining the fun.

There are two types of registration available: Full Registration and All Access Registration. Full Registration is recommended for adult fans and teen fans (accompanied by an adult). The All Access registration is recommended for families looking to have fun for the kids beyond looking at displays.  All Access registration is also good for adults accompanying TFOLs.  The differences in the registration types are depicted in the following table.
