Whether you are a rookie or an FLL coach with several years of experience you will find some useful information in this seminar. Even if you've only just heard about the First LEGO League we would encourage you to attend and experience the excitement of this great program for kids. We will be covering the basics of successful coaching for the robot game, presentation, and technical/team judging, as well as discussing challenges such as forming teams, funding your season, and managing large teams or multiple teams. Presentation: Castle Walls and Landscaping

Have you ever wanted to make a big Castle wall or fortress enclosure, but you just didn't have the bricks to do it all?  In this class David will teach you how to organize wall sections from multiple people to create a complete wall.  We'll go over the Classic Castle City standard as well as Tall Walls.  You'll also learn how to include streams, ponds and other bodies of water in your countryside landscaping.  Come and find out what everyone is talking about when they mention a "river of SNOT"! Trains Roundtable

Come take part in this annual discussion about the current state and future of LEGO trains. We plan to focus the discussion the Power Functions trains that will be released in Fall 2010 along with the Power Functions line in general, but any and all topics involving trains are fair game. We would encourage builders to bring trains to show the group, especially if they incorporate the new Power Functions components. Brickworld traditionally has the largest concentration of LEGO Train Clubs of any event, so this is one of the best opportunities for train topics to be discussed live and in person and we are planning to have a LEGO Representative available during the discussion as well. Presentation: Demonstration of LPub 4, a proud member of the LDraw family of CAD tools

Kevin Clague, the author of LPub 4 will demonstrate how to use it for basic and advanced development of LEGO style building instructions.  LPub has been used to produce building instructions for the majority of the fan published LEGO related books.  Kevin developed LPub out of his own need for tools to create building instructions.  He's co-authored in four books that are LEGO related.  This is a great chance to ask for new features and report your most annoying LPub bugs!

Presentation: Building In Lawndale (BILd)

Combo Build Competition

The combo build competition will allow 30 Brickworld attendees to make the coolest thing possible using parts from 3 different LEGO sets.  Everyone gets the same pieces and 90 minutes to complete their creation.  The participants get to keep their parts.  The winner (chosen by judges) will also earn a Brickworld trophy.

All Brickworld attendees are included in the drawing.  If you are selected to participate you will be informed at the event.

LEGO In-Store Shopping Event

The annual mass invasion of the LEGO store...no wait....2 LEGO stores.  Yes, 2 LEGO stores this year.  When you check in at the event you will draw a pass out of a bag.  The pass will determine which store (Northbrook or Woodfield) that you go to for the in-store event.

Once you are at the in-store event, you will find more damaged goods at each store than you can imagine.  The store is only open for the sale of the damaged sets during the in-store event.  Your special attendee discount is good from Thursday through Sunday except during the in-store event.
