Brickworld 2011 Theme

Brickworld 2010 is now just a memory and Brickworld 2011 is in the planning stages. Mark your calendars now. Brickworld 2011 will be held at the Westin Hotel in Wheeling, IL as usual. Brickworld is tentatively set to begin on the evening of June 15th with opening ceremonies at 8 PM. Brickworld will run through June 19th.

We are pleased to announce the theme for Brickworld 2011 is: "Five"

2011 is the 5th Brickworld event and there are 5 colors in the Brickworld logo. You may be thinking "Five? What can I do with that theme?". Almost anything. 5 colors in your MOC. 5 towers on your castle. 5 minifigs in your MOC. 5 cars on your layout. 5 engines on your spaceship. 5 engines on your train. So, have some fun with five of something.

Also, according to the Mayans we are living in the 5th world right now.

So, Five is a great theme to lead into our Brickworld 2012 theme "The End of The World" which we are also pleased to announce.

This adds an additional twist for builders. Create a cool MOC for 2011 and then "modify" it to be post-apocolyptic in 2012.

We hope you are as excited about the future as we are. We look forward to seeing you at the Westin. Stay tuned for further announcements and information as we work to finalize planning for the event. As usual, registration will open in January.

Posted By: bbonahoom On: 2010-07-10 11:34am

Esther Walner Memorial Charity Auction

Brickworld is only a couple weeks away and you are helping us set records with this year's event already with a massive 795 registered attendees. While this is incredible, the one record we really love to break every year is the amount of money we collect for the three charities that benefit from the Esther Walner Memorial Charity Auction. To help make sure this happens in 2010, many of you donated T-shirts to use in the making of a quilt for the auction. Thanks to Bunnie Cleland and Barbara Price, we actually have 2 quilts made from these T-shirts.

These quilts are so cool, that we didn't want them just going to the highest bidder. Instead, we will be raffling tickets to win the quilts with all the raffle proceeds going to the charity auction total. You will be able to buy your raffle tickets for the quilt at the event. But, we wanted to give you a teaser. So, here is a picture of one of the quilts. All we can say is that the picture does NOT do the quilt justice. They are just so awesome in person.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!!! Save some money to buy raffle tickets for the quilts.

Posted By: bbonahoom On: 2010-06-01 9:35pm
